DREYFUS CASE

DREYFUS CASE
the false trial for treason, condemnation, retrial and eventual exoneration of a JEWISH Captain, Alfred Dreyfus (1859-1935), of the French General Staff. The case divided France into anti-Dreyfusard groups which were nationalist, monarchist and CATHOLIC and the republican ANTI-CLERICAL Dreyfusards. It is important because of its place in the history of anti-Semitism.
