AMISH

AMISH
   ANABAPTIST SECT originating in the late seventeenth century and named after Jacob Ammann a Swiss MENNONITE. The Amish are best known today for their rejection of modern technology and simple lifestyle in a SOCIETY separate from the surrounding North American technological CULTURE.
