HARMONIC CONVERGENCE

HARMONIC CONVERGENCE
an idea said to have originated with Jose Arguelles in his book The Transformative Vision (1975) based on "prophecies" from ancient Mayan writings which predicted the release of COSMIC ENERGIES due to a cyclic alignment of various stars and planets. He argued that this would occur on August 16 and 17th, 1987. Many people in the NEW AGE MOVEMENT latched onto this idea which since then has been closely linked with the GAIA HYPOTHESIS and an expectation of imminent SPIRITUAL and SOCIAL change.
